Playing Time Policy

Minnetonka Juniors Volleyball has a two tier approach for playing time depending on whether the team is developmental (club) or competitive (select).

It is the underlying goal of the club to provide playing time opportunities provided the players are meeting club expectations including practice attendance and performance.

The club expects that all players will attend practices. Players missing a practice must communicate with the coach to explain the absence. If the absence is planned, please inform the coach as soon as possible.

The club expects that during a practice the players will focus on the instruction provided by the coaches and to attempt to perform at the best of their ability. It is a player responsibility to communicate with a coach if they are having difficulty with a concept or drill.

Club Teams

Coaches will attempt to provide equal playing time opportunities to those players who have met club practice expectations based on position, number of games and other factors. The 14-Club and 12-Club Teams will be selected based on registration order and district standing.

Select Teams

Our select teams change the focus from individual skills to team skills. As the teams progress through the program the emphasis will focus more on team results such as consistent execution, constant improvement and teamwork. Select teams will be selected through a tryout process.

Coaches may use their discretion to allocate playing time to those players who most contribute team efforts. Coaches have the responsibility to communicate with the players about any issues that affect their playing time. All players will have some role with the team, but there will not be an emphasis on equal playing time.
